As part of the country’s economic diversification strategy, successive governments have for many years sought to make the health sector one of the pillars of the Luxembourg economy. To this end, a series of initiatives and investments have been made, resulting in a dynamic, forward-looking sector. In this context, private players are making a significant contribution to the economic development of the healthcare sector. Today, a true ‘health industry’ is present and active on the national territory.
FEDIL Health Corporations brings together Luxembourg’s private companies in the “Health” and “Life Sciences” sectors. In addition to its federating role, the federation acts as a platform for exchange on issues and problems specific to the private sector, and acts as the sector’s spokesperson.
1) Recognition
The federation aims to promote the private sector and provide the necessary visibility to its activities and dynamism, as well position it as a true essential player in the healthcare sector, driving a rapidly growing economic sector.
2) Political vision.
The federation promotes a vision of healthcare centered on the patient and innovation. It advocates for a mutually beneficial coexistence between the private and public sectors to foster quality medicine. In doing so, it will act as a representative interlocutor vis-à-vis the public authorities to support policies that favors innovation and sustains market dynamism.
3) Funding.
The federation will work to encourage the establishment of appropriate funding instruments and support mechanisms to stimulate investment in the healthcare sector. In doing so, it will draw inspiration from best practices in other countries.
4) Internationalization.
Beyond national borders, the federation will undertake promotional activities for the sector in geographical regions identified as being of interest, as well as recruiting other stakeholders, either individually or in collaboration with other organizations, such as the Chamber of Commerce or Luxinnovation. It will also seek to establish international partnerships aimed at invigorating the national ecosystem.
5) The digitalization of healthcare.
The federation will ensure the acceleration of initiatives and projects for the digitalization of the sector, and to seize the opportunities offered to the sector, particularly on the subject of health data.
6) Human resources.
The federation will engage in dialogue with its key stakeholders in the labor market to initiate the implementation of sector-specific measures to facilitate the recruitment of personnel and to better value its professions and their development.
7) Taxation.
The federation will address tax issues specific to the healthcare sector, to ensure that tax incentives are adapted in the interests of healthcare sector development and properly reflect the government’s strategic objective.
8) Regulation.
The federation will address national and European legislative and regulatory initiatives to ensure that they are sufficiently open and conducive to innovation.
